About my alto’s

Because of the alto being the most important instrument within the recorder family, I like to offer various different alto’s, each with their own qualities and characters. Of course I prefer to work after instruments that I have been able to play myself but this isn’t always possible. However, I’ve at least had each of these originals in my hands and although time has left its marks, you can still see very clearly how wonderful these instruments have been made.

My basic model is based on the famous Denner alto from the musical instrument museum in Kopenhagen. An excellent choice for any player who wants to enjoy playing a hand crafted, high quality instrument at an affordable price. Available at A:415 or A:443 Hz
The Denner alto is an agile, very expressive instrument, especially brilliant in the top register and therefor very suitable for solo’s (with or without orchestra) and bigger ensemble work. Available in A:415 Hz and A:440 Hz.
The Debey alto probably has a little more intimate sound than the Denner. Top and bottom register are very nicely balanced which makes this instrument a truly versatile recorder. Available in A:392 Hz and A:415 Hz.
The alto after Thomas Stanesby Sr. I find an exceptionally nice instrument. It’s not the right instrument when you want to articulate very strongly because of its sensitivity, but a lot is made up by a beautiful, deep round sound. I find this recorder a true ‘flauto dolce’, especially in the original pitch A:403 Hz. Ultimately suitable for f.e. Händel sonatas Available in A:403 Hz (original pitch!) and A:415 Hz.
