Baroque soprano recorder after E. Terton, A:45 and A:440 Hz
Engelbert Terton (1676-1752), born in Rijssen, Holland, was probably an apprentice of Jan Jurrianz van Heerde in Amsterdam. He was a recorder-, flute- and oboe maker and he was one of the most important woodwind instrument makers in Europe at the time.
This very special soprano recorder with its wonderful round, warm sound, is now part of the collection of the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam. It is made of stained boxwood with elaborate silver adornments on head- and foot joint – the only surviving recorder that has this! On request I can also deliver the instrument with this silver work.
The instrument is an all-rounder and particularly suitable for playing any 18th-century solo concerto’s, the famous ones by Sammartini, Vivaldi, Baston for example, but also for playing in smaller chamber music settings and in orchestra’s.
